I have an issue with automotive mags and 'project' cars. It often seems that these cars lack a goal or purpose. Occasionally, you'll see a Grassroots Motorsports (GRM) project to build a budget racer. This is a clearly defined project. Unfortunately most projects lack a goal. In general, I've seen projects in most magazines follow this chronology: 1) How to buy an XXXX. 2) Intake and Exhaust. 3) Wheels and Brakes. 4) Electronics. Personally I believe that this just yields an average modified car that while entertaining isn't anything special. So I suggest the following project: Ferrari Takedown Build up a Z32 from bone stock to compete against a stock 360 Modena. Do side by side comparisons between them on a road course, in the quarter mile, and at a show. Use the same driver for each car and see exactly what it takes to take down a Ferrari. This way people can really see what modifications make a difference or are just overkill.
